Being initially inspired by the shadows of trees she spotted on the grass, she did a lot of studying a method that didn't present the chosen subject as a 2-dimensional representation on canvas. Rather the subject is transformed into a re-creation of itself in which the painting becomes the carrier of it's personal interpretation by painting, particularly when the subject is live or perishable objects for example, like humans or fruit. Alexa's style of painting is very ephemeral. Only the photos of her work remain. Trompe l'oeil is achieved using the two processes of photography and painting. It creates two-dimensional flattened picture. Meade sometimes incorporates painted models within the surrounding space. It allows them to interact with this world she has created. This eliminates the distinctions between photography, painting, and installation.
