Firefly is Whedon s next huge popular television show. She must have left a lasting impression, because this one episode led to her becoming an acclaimed actress. Summer Glau's character, River Tam, was one of the most complex characters that Glau handled with ease. Tam's character, Summer Glau was forced into government tests so that she could be prepared to play an ideal assassin. Tam had difficulty learning to control her emotions due to. In Firefly Glau was able to show off not only her acting ability but her ability to fight. Glau was able to fully exploit her athletic skills since she was preparing to become an assassin. Summer Glau's classical training has made her a skilled ballerina. She's also trained in flamenco and tango, however an injury to her foot ended her dance career. Firefly was only on for one year but gained a loyal following. Whedon became so dedicated to Firefly that he went back a couple years later.
