Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native and blues-singing singer from rock. She performed on the streets and was first noticed by Immortal in the year 1995. Her raw, outspoken performance, emotional and empathetic live performances have attracted the attention of fans. Chuck Taylor, Billboard's October 2, 1999 issue, wrote that Hart is "the the epitomize of a natural woman" and that she was "bawdy and hilarious, chatty with her choices of spiced languages, free-wheeling , and free-wheeling." But that's a lot of white bread when as compared to her presence on stage, where the tall, athletic singer/songwriter dances and belts out songs with the vim of Mick Jagger .... At other times, she takes her place at the piano or on the center stage, sitting without pretense, with her legs crossed over the edges of the chair, singing a tune that is so tender and painful, you wonder if she's going to cry--or in the event that you do. Hart was a teenager who took part in amateur contests and had similar reactions. However, she was still a bit wary and had doubts about the music business when she first began her professional career. Hart ended her performance after she had a disappointing tour around the world. Hart then spent nearly four years pondering and solving problems through music writing. The year 1999 saw Hart returned to her professional work with the critically highly acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper. This album witnessed Hart's songwriting capabilities improve with vulnerable and authentic songs about dealing with the challenges of life.
